Biography[]
Befriending Will[]
Tyler arrives to class and is accused of being late by Mr. Clark, though he retorts that time is nothing more than an arbitrary social construct, forcing Mr. Clark to relent. Will is amused and introduces himself. Tyler remarks that it's an honor, as he's been wanting to punch Connor since the sixth grade. The following day, Will asks Tyler about Coach Johnson and if the try-outs are just another set up for him to get played. Tyler assures Will that Coach Johnson is a straight shooter and that Will can earn a spot if he really wants it. Coach is all about work and hustling hard, but he also warns Will against showboating. And so, Will comes to try-outs and lands a spot on the team.[1]
The team plays their first game with Will on the team, who gets on the court and scores back-to-back. Will is fouled, but he keeps his composure and even holds back Tyler, who briefly loses his composure. Will only continues to score from this point and make the game winning shot.[2]
Will's birthday party[]
Tyler attends Will's birthday party at the Banks family mansion, where he is in disbelief after Will is gifted a pair of limited edition Jordans, signed by Michael Jordan himself. Unfortunately, this results in a fight between his mom and Viv.[3]
As tension builds between Will and the rest of the team due to a recent loss and Will's attitude, Tyler checks in with Will to ensure things are cool between him, Coach Johnson, and Kirk. Will insists he has no problems with anyone and assures Tyler he will be there for the team.[4]
Tension has built between Tyler and Will due to Will's refusal to play as a team. Tyler recalls the team calling Will out on his attitude and behavior just for him to go against the coach's orders and do as he pleases. Will apologizes and explains he simply wanted to put the team in place for playoffs. Tyler wants to believe Will, but he questions if he can truly put the team first when the time comes, which Will insists that he will. Later, Tyler joins Will and the BSU in their attempt to get Mrs. Hughes reinstated.[5]
Tyler joins Will for lunch and congratulates him ahead of time, certain that he will win the Founder's Award. Will extends his congratulations as well for the team nearing the semi-finals. However, they go against St. Paul's next, who Tyler doesn't believe they can defeat. He then notices that Carlton and Connor are friends again, to which Will replies that you can't help someone who doesn't want to help themselves. On the heels of their previous conversation, Will decides to invite the team down to Venice Beach to train them alongside Zenith Hype.[6]
