Biography[]
Monica attends diner at the Banks home after Hilary is accepted into their creator house. They sit next to Ashley, who asks about the future of sexuality. Monica believes that coming generations won't torture themselves when they define their behaviors. They argue that some people may spend one stage of their lives as heterosexual, and another as asexual, and another as homosexual. Ashley wonders if it's worth making those distinctions at all. Only if those distinctions serve you, Monica replies. Some people feel that sexuality defines them as a person, while others don't. But both camps are correct, they add.[1]
Monica bet Phanta $20 that Hilary wouldn't post that Thirsty Chef video, but Monica can admit when they're wrong. However, Hilary doesn't know what they mean. She filmed it, but she hasn't decided if she will post the video. Unbeknownst to Hilary, Kylo has already taken the liberty of posting it himself, but not before remixing the footage to make it more sexual. Monica explains that Kylo doesn't need permission, as everything recorded in the house is in the cloud and fair game. Not to mention that showcasing her sexuality can be liberating. While Monica doesn't always agree with Kylo's methods, they learned to keep an open mind when Oprah's team called her for a book deal.[2]
Monica and Phanta celebrate with Hilary and Ivy after they buy the influencer house from Kylo, declaring it a woman's safe zone. Additionally, Ivy announces that her personal drink, H2Ivy, will be the official drink of their new house and instructs the girls to take a group photo.[3]
Yet another influencer event has passed that their influencer house wasn't invited to, Monica remarks. At least with Kylo, they walked Red Carpets, got swag bags, and Getty Images. Hilary urges Monica to be patient, as she's close to closing the Simply Spiked deal. If they can just get their numbers and engagement up, they'd be closer to attending such events. Monica believes they could do that faster with Ivy's following, but Hilary insists they don't need Ivy. She later invites Monica and Phanta to Viv's gallery show, where they post photos of the paintings, artists, and gain their most engagement through content with NFL star Lamarcus Alton, who essentially helps the ladies close their Simply Spiked deal.[4]
Monica and Phanta enter Hilary's room and urge her to get out of bed in spite of her recent break up. While they understand that she's suffering from heartbreak, their Simply Spiked post with Lamarcus has gained them true visibility, and they need Hilary to build on the momentum.[5]
Monica and Phanta attend Hilary's cross promotion five-on-five football game event at Lamarcus' house, where Hilary claims that she and Lamarcus are just friends, but the girls aren't convinced after he kisses her on the cheek. Later that evening, they inform Hilary that Sloan can't make it for their five-on-five game due to having booked another gig. Down a girl with the game about to begin, Hilary is desperate for another player and asks Ashley to fill in.[6]
