Jackie is a recurring character on Peacock's modern-day reinterpretation, Bel-Air. She is portrayed by Jazlyn Martin.
Jackie is a Los Angeles native, whose South L.A. street smarts put Will's Philly swagger to the test when they meet at a Venice basketball tournament.
Biography[]
Meeting Will[]
Jackie meets Will at the court. She is initially reluctant to reveal her name, explaining that she doesn't even know if she likes Will yet. She saw him trying to talk to Doc and advises him to play a good game if he wants Doc's attention. Will does just that, and afterward, Jackie congratulates him and officially introduces herself.[1]
Jackie invites Will to an after hours spot in Inglewood, where they dance, and she reveals that Doc is her uncle.[2]
Jackie joins Will in the barbershop at Zenith Hype, where she works part-time. She has heard about his suspension and doesn't believe he should be punished for rocking out for the culture. While Jackie has learned he's from Philly, Will's hoping for a closer look into her world, but she doesn't let people in too fast. However, later that night, she invites him down to a dance studio, where she reveals that she's a dancer with aspirations for Julliard. After dancing together and sharing a kiss, Jackie visits her Uncle Doc, who congratulates her on a job well done. While she doesn't believe she contributed much, Doc says otherwise. Will needed to show his uncle that he's willing to work hard for what he wants, and thanks to Jackie, he got there.[3]
Jackie offers Will some words of encouragement after he gets off to a bad start during his first day at Zenith Hype. She also informs him that each player has their own individual struggles and that he has to earn his spot. Jackie is then offered an amazing opportunity after Will's Aunt Viv invites her to perform during her gallery. There, she meets Lisa. After her performance, Jackie and Will kiss, which invokes a reaction from Jackie, leading her to asks what happened between them. Will claims they had a "thing" but now they're cool and just friends. Maybe Will is, but Jackie doesn't believe the same can be said for Lisa.[4]
Jackie runs into Will in LA. She is visibly drunk and aggressively throws herself at Will. While he is merely concerned for her well-being, she accuses Will of trying to blow her off and pushes him away. Jackie continues to drink and bumps into another girl at the party, which almost escalates into a fight until Will intervenes. She tells him to let go of her and that he doesn't know anything about her. Nevertheless, Will gives her a ride home and hands her over to Doc.[5]
Jackie thanks Will for getting her home the other night. She was drunk and doesn't remember what she even said. When Will forgives her, she offers to share more of her world with him. He then asks if Jackie knows why Brian isn't on the team anymore, as he can't get a straight answer from anyone. She does know, but tells him that it can wait until their date tomorrow. After Will leaves, Doc warns Jackie to be careful and not to say too much.[6]
Jackie briefly stops by Charlie's Vinyl to meet with Will, who takes her up to Jazz' apartment, where they have sex. Afterward, Jackie notices that something is bothering Will and says that she will tell him anything he wants to know. She admits to knowing what Doc was up to, but she couldn't talk about it. While he's her uncle, her feelings for Will are real. Doc just wanted Uncle Phil's help given his connection to high places and said he could be an asset. Doc was essentially plotting to get at Uncle Phil this whole time, and Jackie knew about it, but she swears that she didn't know all the details. Will is heartbroken and agrees that Jackie should leave.[7]
Jackie attends the Founder's Award, where she admits that things got complicated. He wishes things would have started a little differently, to which she replies that there's still time for a do-over. When Aunt Viv joins them and greets Jackie, Will excused himself to find Lisa.[8]
