"Fred's been super supportive about me getting back to work as soon as I feel ready once the baby is born. [...] Yeah, it's been a huge relief. Why should women have to set our passions aside when we start a family?"
—Angela to Vivian and Joan[src]

Angela Wilkes is a recurring character on Peacock's modern-day reinterpretation, Bel-Air. She is portrayed by Scottie Thompson.

Angela is an interior designer, newly married to Fred Wilkes, the Police Chief and Lisa's father. With this, Angela tries to navigate her new role in the family.

Biography[]

Meeting Fred[]

Angela met Fred during an LAPD golf tournament in 2018 and began dating him while he was still married to his now deceased wife, Gayle, who died in 2019. Angela and Fred would be engaged within the year.[1]

Gayle's fundraiser[]

Angela, Fred, and Lisa attend Gayle's annual fundraiser at the Banks house, where Angela mentions that with all these amazing items in the silent auction, they will shatter last year's fundraising total. As Lisa and Carlton are discussing colleges, Angela suddenly experiences a bit of discomfort when the baby kicks, but she assures everyone that she's fine. Angela reveals to Vivian and Joan that she's an interior designer and that Fred's been very supportive in regards to her career, and her going back to work as soon as the baby is born. It's been a relief for Angela, who doesn't believe women should have to set their passions aside to start a family.

Angela asks Viv about Lisa, particularly how to connect with her. She's thinking about saying a few words, but Vivian advises against it just as they are joined by Will, to whom Angela unintentionally reveals that she was having an affair with Fred prior to Gayle's death. She and Fred had been discussing having a baby since their first get-away in Palm Springs. She'd never been until Fred took her. He was out there for a big LAPD golf tournament, and when he won, he said that Angela was his good luck charm. However, as Aunt Viv recalls, the golf tournament was 2018, but Gayle didn't die until 2019. Following Lisa's poem in tribute to her mother, Angela embraces her and is feeling so inspired that she wants to go up and say a few words, but Viv reminds Angela that they've already discussed this and informs Angela that today is about Gayle, not her. So, she can either kindly sit down or leave. Fred agrees to leave, but Lisa decides to stay behind.[1]

Angela attends Fred's debate alongside Lisa as moral support. To her surprise, Phil withdraws from the race, and Fred wins the debate by default.[2]
